Growing up in Johannesburg South-Africa, our family always had dogs and my mom loves to tell the story of me at the age of 7 climbing the wall to play with Tiger, the Rottweiler that lived next door. My love and connection with horses developed a few years later during my first horse riding lesson at the age of 8.
"In addition to helping my human patients, I look forward with great joy to the time I get to spend with my four-legged clients, as well."
During my early teens, my mom suffered a serious car accident. Back surgery was advised by the doctor, but luckily, a friend had told my mom about chiropractic. Thanks to chiropractic care, my mom made a full recovery without the need for invasive surgery. Not only did the decision to see a chiropractor change my mom’s life, but it also had a profound impact on my future.
After witnessing the power of chiropractic care through my mom’s experience, I went on to study Chiropractic at the University of Johannesburg. Once I had completed my degree, it was time for me to merge my two passions. My husband and I packed up and moved to Europe, where I enrolled in the Backbone Academy for Veterinary Chiropractic in Germany. After completing my studies there I also passed the examination to become a member of the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association.
Since graduating, I have travelled to Barcelona and Denver Colorado to complete two advanced courses with the great veterinary chiropractor (and my personal role model), Jay Komarek. I also travel to Norway bimonthly to work on horses with Nathalie Hilmo, a veterinary doctor, chiropractor and close friend. In addition to helping my human patients, I look forward with great joy to the time I get to spend with my four-legged clients, as well.
